Are you providing adequate operator training?

Forklift certification compliance is one of OSHA’s top 10 areas of focus this year. To avoid the mistake of being out of compliance, companies need to establish that they have a training program and that the training program is adequate and effective.

Even in this day and age of sometimes over-regulation of business and costly consequences for noncompliance, many companies are still attempting to meet the training standards with a video and a test. Over 90% of the companies that we work with have asked us to do training for them because the current training program is non-existent, deficient or totally inadequate for the needs of the company and the changes that have taken place at the company since the original training program was implemented. These are not all small businesses, in fact, but all types and sizes of companies in almost every industry. The most striking thing about the lack of adequate training problem is that it can easily and very inexpensively be corrected and even improved beyond basic requirements and standards.

Our advice to any responsible person when it comes to the question of the equipment training programs is to ensure that it meets or exceeds the OSHA requirements as outlined specifically in the OSHA Regulations www.OSHA.gov.

You may also want to call us in www.lifttraining.com for a free consultation and get our feedback on your programs’ content and quality. This will help ensure that any visits by the local OSHA investigator will be over quickly as you demonstrate your excellence in keeping your employees safe and your environment free of hazards.

The economy is tough right now and we are all struggling to keep our respective businesses running and in good order. Would it not be a shame and tragedy to have this struggle further complicated by a formal investigation or, worse yet, an accident investigation? Good quality training is available, affordable and a no-brainer!
